Adirondack Regional Theater (ART)

The same dynamic duo (Pat and Tom Lavin), who brought summer shows like Once Upon a Mattress and teamed up with Peru Music Theatre for the recent spring production of Seussical, plan to bring Disney’s Aladdin, Jr. and Into the Woods to Rouses Point and Clinton Community College. Tickets for both productions will be available at the Champlain Centre mall.

According to Tom Lavin, both musicals are made possible with public funds from the Decentralization Program of the New York State Council on the Arts and administered locally by the North Country Cultural Center for the Arts. Into The Woods is sponsored in part by CVPH Medical Center.

Lake Placid Center for the Arts (LPCA)

The LPCA will host Saranac Lake’s Pendragon Theater’s adaptation of Rudyard Kipling’s Jungle Book on August 4 at 10:30 a.m. as part of their summer-long free Young & Fun Wednesdays program. Other kid-friendly shows in the Young & Fun series include Comedy & Magic with Tim Dumas (July 7), Dora’s Dream, Lake Placid Sinfonietta (July 14), Martha Gallagher, The Adirondack Harper (July 21), Jack and the Beanstalk, Seagle Music Colony (July 28), Juggler Extraordinaire Steve Gratto (August 25).
Once again, the LPCA offers a free 6-day theater camp with the Missoula Children’s Theater. This professional theater troupe will help approximately 50 young people bring The Wizard of Oz to the stage Aug.-14. The workshop will culminate in two
performances on Aug. 14 at noon and 3 p.m.
